Tanner
Berryhill Continues Stout Efforts
“Vision
Racing Development Driver On The Rise”
TULSA, Oklahoma (Wednesday
April 27, 2006) - - Vision Racing driver development protégé
Tanner Berryhill continues to turn heads throughout the state of Oklahoma
following another impressive performance at JRP Speedway last weekend.
In preparation for his first
Mini-Stock race at JRP, the 12-year old tested at the racetrack prior
to the event gathering crucial track and seat time. During the testing
session, to no one’s surprise Berryhill thundered out spectacular
lap times leaving the VR (Vision Racing) team with high hopes for the
event.
“I’m happy with
the way things went,” said Tanner. “The test went better
than expected and I’m focused heading into this weekend’s
race. I just want to finish the race. That’s the biggest thing,
finishing.”
On race day, Berryhill continued
to make his presence known. During his heat session, he mastered away
around the track leading a majority of the race before being dumped
from behind with one lap to go. On the green-white-checkered finish,
Tanner sliced and diced his way though the rest of the competition and
capturing the heat race victory.
During the main feature,
things didn’t go so hot. On the first lap, Berryhill was hit from
behind, sending his car into the wall, ending his day.
“I was looking forward
to the race following the heat show,” continued Tanner. “I
feel bad that the car is wrecked pretty badly, but hopefully we’ll
get it fixed for the next race.”
Adrian said, “Tanner
did an awesome job. His heat race was one of the best races I’ve
ever seen. In the main event, that just sucked. We’ll fix the
car and Tanner will race again.”
The third-generation driver
continues to prove he is a natural born talent. In addition to running
smoothly at JRP Speedway, Berryhill also was recently crowned the Texas
Motor Speedway Winter Series Champion. In addition, Berryhill also has
captured four out of six wins this year in the National Bandoleros series.
Last year, Berryhill, a third-generation
driver mastered 12 victories between the Bandoleros Series at JRP Speedway
and Texas Motor Speedway. In 16 races, his worst finish was fourth.
“I’m having a
blast,” said Tanner Berryhill who sports the No. 17. “I
enjoy racing. Lucky for me, I’m starting out young and I hope
to continue racing for a long time to come.”
With six starts this season
in the Bandoleros Series, Berryhill has racked up two poles, four wins,
four top-fives and four top-ten finishes. That’s stout for a driver
who only has been racing for a year.
Backing his efforts this
season consist of Majestic Properties, LLC, National Cash Lenders, LLC,
Mauppins Kia of Tulsa Body Shop and Excel Sports Therapy. “It’s
pretty cool to have sponsors that want to see me win at a young age,”
continued the youngster. “They are behind me all the way and I’m
thankful for that.”
As for the owner, Adrian
Berryhill, he is a proud father. “I’m so proud of Tanner,”
he said. “It’s amazing what he has been able to do in such
a short time. I love to see him race. He does a great job. He doesn’t
get over his head and saves the best for last. He has the talent and
will be around racing for a long time to come.”
Tanner is part of the driver
development program for Vision Racing which competes in the ARCA RE/MAX
Series and NASCAR Busch Series. “While we are planning to breed
new talent with Vision Racing, the focus will be putting Tanner in the
seat in a couple years. He will start off on the short tracks in ARCA
and then he’ll work his way up just like all the drivers do. I’m
excited about the future.”
Vision Racing fields the
No. 37 machine in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Earlier this year Damon Lusk
put on a brilliant performance in the season-opener at Daytona International
Speedway finishing fifth, a career best for the Oklahoma based-team
Vision Racing is still seeking additional funding for Tanner’s
program. Interested parties can contact the team at adrian@visionracingteam.com
