Tanner Berryhill Triumphs In Texas

“Developmental Driver Continues To Impress”

TULSA, Oklahoma (May 24, 2006) – Tanner Berryhill continued his winning ways last Saturday taking the victory in the National Bandoleros Series at Texas Motor Speedway propelling him to one of the hottest young drivers in 2006.

Berryhill already has fond memories of Texas Motor Speedway after being crowned the TMS (Texas Motor Speedway) Winter Series champion earlier this year. Before the victory on Saturday, the youngster tallied seven starts this season, collecting two poles, four wins, four top-fives and four top-ten finishes. Those were stout stats for a driver who only has been racing for a year.

Now with another victory to add to his resume, the future appears bright for the third-generation driver. “I’m really happy with the win,” said the 12-year old competitor. “We had a good race and to win another race is a real momentum booster. I hope the results don’t change.”

So, seven starts, five wins, five top-five finishes and five top-ten finishes, that’s how you win championships and that’s Berryhill’s plans for 2006. “We have a chance at winning the Bandoleros championship and this weekend’s win helped that,” explained Berryhill. “It’s a long process, but as long as I concentrate, I think I have a chance of bringing home the championship at the end of the year.”

In addition to winning the main course, Berryhill started fourth in the heat race before jumping to the lead early in the race, never looking back and easily advancing to the main attraction before taking triumph in the feature.

For proud owner and father, Adrian Berryhill, he can’t help but boast about his son’s performance. “Tanner will be a great NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver someday,” he said. “I am so proud of his effort this weekend. We were good right off the truck and it never stopped. Tanner is going to be around for many years in racing and I’m confident he will have a dominating presence no matter where he competes.”

Early racing success has already been beneficial to Berryhill as he has begun to catch the attention of the higher hierarchies in the NASCAR world. SPEED reporter Bob Dillner sought out Berryhill to personally congratulate him following his impressive victory at TMS last month.

Backing his efforts last weekend consisted of Majestic Properties, LLC, National Cash Lenders, LLC, Mauppins Kia of Tulsa Body Shop and Excel Sports Therapy. “Thanks to all my sponsors,” continued the younger Berryhill. “I know it would not be possible to race and have the chance to win if it wasn’t for them. We’re winning races, it can’t get much better.”

Tanner is part of the driver development program for Vision Racing which competes in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Busch Series. “While we are planning to breed new talent with Vision Racing, the focus will be putting Tanner in the seat in a few years. He will start off on the short tracks in ARCA and then he’ll work his way up just like all the drivers do. I’m excited about the future. Despite just being halfway, we are already looking ahead to 2007 and I think we
have some good things in the works,” concluded the elder Berryhill.

Now, Berryhill will return to local competition at JRP Speedway while also continuing to compete in the National Bandoleros Series.

Vision Racing fields the No. 37 machine in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Earlier this year Damon Lusk put on a brilliant performance in the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway finishing fifth, a career best for the Oklahoma based-team. The team will return to ARCA competition next month at Michigan International Speedway.

Vision Racing is still seeking additional funding for Tanner’s program. Interested parties can contact the team at adrian@visionracingteam.com
